Intentionally living

a life of storytelling,

faith & creativity

a storyteller’s life

With stapled packets clutched in my marker-stained hands, I delivered the news to our neighborhood. Well, by neighborhood, I mean the seven houses on our street. Oh, and the “news” came in stapled packets of paper, written and illustrated in marker. It included groundbreaking stories like Mrs. Eldridge’s Elkhounds Bark at the Mailman and Bear Greets Neighborhood Kids at Afternoon Bus Stop (Bear was a neighbor’s cat).

I knew I was a writer. My second-grade essay, Grandpa’s a Nice Guy, won a county-wide essay contest. I wrote books every year for the young author program, and by fourth grade, I wrote and delivered a newspaper.

But time and life have a way of dimming our dreams, and often, the road we travel does not lead to what we envisioned as children. I walked away from my dreams in my twenties and have spent the last two decades focused on being a wife and homeschool mother. Now, our emptying nest has more and more space for the dreams I left behind…join me as I step into the next chapter of my life as a storyteller.

a faith-filled life

Walking out faith looks different in different seasons. Almost two decades in women’s ministry shaped my heart and my faith. Over the years, whether in women’s ministry events, homeschool coops, mission trips, small retreats, sharing photos & stories from abroad, blogging, or community Bible studies, I have sought to help women understand the Bible, claim the life God has for them, and make them feel seen, valued, and loved.

As the focus of my life switches from homeschooling mom to whatever’s next, I look forward to the new adventures God has waiting for us. I am prayerfully asking God to help us return to Kenya to love on and empower our Kenyan sisters, and I know there will be many opportunities stateside.

Coming early 2025, look for a new Patreon Bible study and community.

a creative life

In my forties, I discovered my love for art and creativity. I’ve always loved photography and been kinda crafty. But in 2020 and 2021, as I began to lose my eyesight (a rare form of cataracts that required lens replacement surgery), I decided to teach myself to draw. Then, I discovered a love for watercolors. From there, sometimes, I get a bit of artsy adhd — skipping around to whatever project seems fun.

In 2024, I opened a small space inside a local shop to sell paintings, greeting cards, photography, and more. While the experience with the shop has not been all that I had hoped, it has challenged me to grow as an artist and entrepreneur. This year, there will be lots of vendor events, private sales, and commissions.
